featherboxDuring Education Week – on Saturday, 30 August – NSW Regions East and West conducted a Family Fun Day in support a Local Council community environmental project protecting bats, possums and birds. Sai Youth were instrumental in providing activities for all who participated.

Sydney’s vibrant multicultural society gives us a wonderful opportunity to practice Swami’s teachings of oneness and love . On 26 September, thirty Sai youth and three SSE students from Regions East and West in NSW assisted in running a family fun day for new migrant families in the western suburbs of Sydney.

The event was coordinated by SydWest Multicultural Resources in accordance with local migrant service groups- 130 participants attended the event. Our Sai youth and teens took upon many different roles for the day, sharing their love and joy. In the morning, the Sai Brothers assisted groups of families to move between different educational activities, coordinated morning tea and supervised the jumping castle for the kids.

The Sai Sisters facilitated the fun activities for the children, such as face painting, arts & craft and read stories to the little kids. In addition to all of these activities that were occurring, the highlight of the day for the kids was the surprise visit by the well-known local character Ruby Roo and her singing troupe- who encouraged children to sing dance and read books! All roles were played by our Sai youth.

As per the request of the coordinators, the Sai Brothers organised an active session of sports for the dads who brought their children along for the day of activities. This was a special initiative to encourage fathers to attend family fun days and participate in family activities.

Meanwhile, the Sai Sisters ran fun outdoor games from different cultures for the children, such as 1,2,3 – Dragon! from China and Catch the Stars from Tanzania. Our Sai youth thoroughly enjoyed the service opportunity, and all participants left with a big smile on their face!

Cultivate that attitude of Oneness between men of all creeds, all countries and all continents. That is the message of love, I bring. That is the message I wish you to take to heart. – Sathya Sai Baba, 4th July 1968, Nairobi
