The Sai Devotees of NSW undertakes a humble offering of love to Sathya Sai and to Society with a range of service activities in celebration of Guru Poornima, the festival of the Guru. The service activities include tree planting, Children’s Day at the House of Welcome, a food drive and a number of nursing home visits.
Guru Poorima 2016 is a chance for all of us to serve in different ways! Our service activities will start with service to the environment on National Tree planting day. Sathya Sai Baba has told us that we have much to learn from nature and as such this will be a chance for us to show our gratitude to nature for all that it teaches us. Next, we’ll be serving the children of a local migrant group, at our House of Welcome Children’s Day! The House of Welcome serves as a support network for migrant communities and this is a beautiful opportunity for us to support our international family!
We’ll be serving the less fortunate with our food drive and the items we collect will be distributed to different community groups to provide wholesome nourishment to those who need it most! Finally, we’ll be serving the elderly with our Nursing home singing visits! The myriad melodic voices always bring so much happiness to the nursing home residents and the residents sing praises and express profound gratitude for these visits!
Sathya Sai Baba has always placed a lot of emphasis on the importance of service and equal emphasis on the true beneficiaries of service. Sai Baba has said “you are not doing service to others. You are doing it always to yourself, to the God in you, the God who is equally present in others.” We hope that you’ll be able to join us for Guru Poornima 2016.
