Sathya Sai School NewsletterOur founder describes our mind as “a mad monkey mind that has been bitten by a scorpion”. This bundle of thoughts that is the mind, often moves unconsciously from one thought to another. Unfortunately some of these thoughts may come from that part of us who is easily hurt, angry, dissatisfied and/or unhappy. Alternatively our thoughts may be influenced by other people’s opinions. Sometimes our thoughts may even come from our past experiences.

Value: Truth as Unity
Quote: “When you practise unity, you see the special-ness in everyone and everything”

The layers which instantaneously colour our thoughts, affecting our emotions and spurring us into action or rather reaction is what we MUST attenuate. It all
starts with our thoughts!

If we can consciously focus our thoughts on universal values, concentrate on positives and consciously give ourselves space to choose, we WILL attenuate our
reactions and our actions will come from a space of love, peace and the truth that we are all ONE.

At Sathya Sai School we remind ourselves and our students to do just this. Our values are clearly displayed, talked about and lived. We aspire to clarify our thoughts and not react. We will keep practising this until it becomes habit and part of our character. We know it requires Herculean effort and it is NOT easy. However the Sathya Sai School spirit will prevail.

The negatives which come from the media and general angst will be overcome with focus and concentration on our universal values. The values are our moral compass
towards happy, authentic and purposeful lives. Seek to unite rather than divide!
