Ladies Day is a sacred day dedicated to women in honour of their pre-eminent role in the family and society as instruments of love, compassion, forbearance, righteousness, and selfless sacrifice.
Ladies Day is annually observed by the global Sathya Sai organisations. It was inaugurated by Sathya Sai Baba in 1995. It is a sacred day dedicated to women in honour of their pre-eminent role in the family and society as instruments of love, compassion, forbearance, righteousness, and selfless sacrifice. Women have the power to change the world by their example and teachings.
Different regions of the international organisation in Australia are holding special events in honour of women and celebrating their virtues and positive influence on the development of our families and the nation. More information of individual events is available through the link below.
Sai Baba, whilst extolling the wonderful qualities of women, also used opportunities to exhort all to reach their full potential; to strive for excellence and to create conditions that lead to peace, harmony and the expansion of love. He saw women as exemplars of these qualities and agents of change for the good of humankind. Here are two quotes from His discourse delivered on the inauguration of Ladies’ Day in 1995.
As today is a sacred day dedicated to women, they should change themselves and help to change the men and the children. They should develop qualities of sympathy, compassion, love and sacrifice. Study the lives of great women, who were models of patience, fortitude, compassion and sacrifice. I desire that you should take the reins of leadership and bring peace and prosperity to the nation by leading ideal lives. – Sathya Sai Baba, Discourse 19.11.95
If the nation has to prosper, improvements must start with parents. Without peace and harmony at home, there can be no peace in the nation. This message should be propagated throughout the country on every November 19th, by observing it as Ladies’ Day. You should teach people how to run their homes well and how to bring up children on right lines. – Sathya Sai Baba. Discourse 19.11.95
