As is usual for our organisation, several Regions and Groups of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG (SSIO) will be celebrating Christmas as a sacred, loving and joyous occasion often combining some service activity with the event and sharing their celebration with community groups, such as the elderly.

All are most welcome to attend the functions.

Whilst the SSIO is a multi-faith spiritual organisation that does not have any religious affiliation, it promotes understanding and tolerance between the different faiths by observing some of the important days from the major world religions. Christmas, one of the most important holy periods of the Christian faith is one such. Christmas is a time when people come together in a spirit of peace, love, compassion and inclusion, all qualities that are fostered by Sai Baba’s teachings as qualities that exemplify humanity and are essential for spiritual progress. Love is the key quality that subsumes all of this and is the quality that is most associated with Jesus the Christ.

Jesus “‘Love the Lord your God with all your heart, with all your soul, with all your mind.’ That is the greatest commandment. It comes first. The second is like it: ‘Love your neighbour as yourself.’ Everything in the Law and the prophets hangs on these two commandments.” – Matthew 22.37-40

‘To realise the Divine, love is the easiest path, just as you can see the moon only by the light of the moon, God who is the embodiment of love can be reached only through love. Regard love as your life breath. Love was the first quality to emerge in the creative process. All other qualities came after it. Therefore, fill your heart with love and base your life on it.’ – Sathya Sai Baba, Sathya Sai Speaks, Vol. XIX, Page 217

Programs for Christmas celebrations often include service to various community groups, such as the elderly or disadvantage persons, as well as devotional meetings focusing on the spirit and meaning of Christmas.
