Education Week as it applies to the Sathya Sai International Organisation is observed in August as a way of focusing and reflecting on principles and aspects of education that Sathya Sai Baba taught for spiritual and social uplift and development. One approach He promoted was Educare, a system in which the inherent values that are at the basis of humanness are recognised and developed by the individual. The values are: Peace, Love, Truth, Right Behaviour and Non-violence. Various Regions and groups will observe the week in different ways. All are most welcome to participate in the events and find out more about Sai Education programmes.
“Spiritual Education which influences the heart is Educare. Educare brings out the latent Divinity of man to establish it as an ideal to the whole world. Modern Education ends merely with bookish knowledge. It is confined to what is contained in books. Educare, however, is not limited to the study of books. It is related to the source of all knowledge that is latent in the heart of all beings. This is the type of Education which is our prime necessity today. People are pursuing higher studies in the various fields of secular education. This is not enough. They have also to pursue spiritual education which inculcates values like truth, righteousness, peace, love etc. and brings about their transformation.”
Sathya Sai Baba, Sanathana Sarathi March 2003.
Different regions will observe the week in a variety of ways, and at different times. NSW Region West for example, will have various activities from Sunday, 12 August 2018 to Sunday, 19 August involving Sai Spiritual Education (SSE) classes and parents of SSE children. The members will celebrate the conclusion of Education Week on Saturday, 25 August with a special Unity Meeting providing an inSAIght into the SSE to the wider membership and the community. Devotional singing will be led by SSE children and guest speakers from Group 4 classes will speak on the theme “The Divine Blueprint for a Harmony Home of Human Values”. An exciting array of programme items will be followed by refreshments.
Please refer to the flyers available below for activities in your area or check with region representatives using the ‘Locations’ tag on the Home Page.
