The Go Green Conference, a conference that focused on environmental responsibility as an important element of spirituality, held in Prasanthi Nilayam in July 2018 saw the launch of another global ‘Serve the Planet’ initiative by the SSIO – a ‘Mobile Phone Recycling Project’.
Sathya Sai Baba often drew attention to the importance of respect and proper use of the Earth’s resources as an integral element of spiritual wholeness.
‘Today the world is losing its ecological balance as man, out of utter selfishness, is robbing Mother Earth of her resources like coal, petroleum, iron, etc. Human life will find fulfillment only when ecological balance is maintained. Balance in human life and balance in Nature, both are equally important.’ – Sathya Sai Baba 25/9/2000.
The SSIO has for many years undertaken through its local groups, and national and global networks, environmental awareness and alleviation activities as a means of honouring our Mother Earth and curbing insatiable desires that hinder our spiritual purpose. The latest project is another aimed at creating more awareness of our individual activities and reducing our impact on the environment.
According to United Nations, a staggering 44.7 million tonnes or 6 kg/person of electronic waste is generated annually. Recycling electronic waste allows for conservation of our natural resources, savings of energy and lessening of the impacts of dumping of harmful and persistent components into landfill.
Alleviate the environmental burdens of disposed electronic waste and do our part in protecting the planet.
Collection between 23/11/2018 (93rd anniversary of the advent of Sathya Sai Baba) to 24/04/2019.
