To Medical and Dental Professionals, Clinicians, General Surgeons, Nurses, Opticians, Para-Medical and General Volunteers registration for 2020 Sai MediCare Camp – Vanua Levu, Fiji is now open.

The Australian Sai Medical Unit in collaboration with the SSIO in New Zealand and Fiji has been conducting free medical camps in various areas of Fiji for many years. The camps provide health-care services at a number of levels to many of the local communities, many of whose people are unable for various reasons to readily access health care. More details of the last service can be found HERE.

Attendance by health-care professionals and general volunteers has been increasingly popular, however, numbers that can be accommodated are limited, so please, if interested attend to the registration information carefully.

Details of the 2020 camp follow:


Dates of the medical service outreach event are:  8 August 2020 – 16 August 2020

Four days of free medical camps will be conducted on Fiji’s second largest island, Vanua Levu in the regional areas near the township of Labasa.

Schedule of Sai Medicare Camp follows:

Sat 8:Team flys from AU / NZ to Nadi, Fiji
Sun 9: Team flys from Nadi-to-Labasa situated the island of Vanua levu
Mon 10 – Thur 13: Free Sai medical camps in regional/rural areas near Labasa township
Fri 14:Team flys from Labasa to Nadi, Viti Levu. Medical Seminar at UPSM, University of Fiji (recognised for CPD points)
Sat 15:Rest/recreation day in Nadi
Sun 16:Team leave for home flying back to AU / NZ

In addition, the Sai Medical Unit surgical team, over course of the aforementioned period, will be working at Labasa General Hospital.

Accommodation arrangement at the hotel in Labasa will be on twin share basis due to limited availability of rooms. Over the course of stay in Vanua Levu, the Sai MediCare team will travel daily from Labasa to the regional camp sites.

Due to an ever-increasing demand to participate in this medical service project from all around Australia and New Zealand, it is recommended you submit your registration details online as soon as possible. It is likely the total number of members participating in the 2020 Sai MediCare camp will be capped at 60 individuals for logistics purposes.

A selection process will be utilised if the number of registered applicants for this camp exceed the logistics limit. Also, registration date may close earlier if the Sai Medical Unit has enough applicants
