Healthy Ageing Workshop – Newcastle NSW

The Sai Medical Unit in conjunction with NSW Region East of the SSIO is running a workshop in June providing information and advice on healthy ageing for people aged 50 and over and carers for the elderly. This community-focused workshop has been conducted successfully at a number of venues around Australia and is an opportunity for all those within the targeted group to gain an insight into a number of health-related issues affecting the elderly. All people, especially those within the target audience are welcome to attend.

Ladies High Tea – Sydney

SSIO NSW East Region’s Ladies Program is hosting a High Tea at Lidcombe on Sunday, 16 June. The function is a chance to get together with other ladies and enjoy time together as well as explore spiritual subjects particularly relevant for women and based upon the teachings of Sathya Sai Baba.

SSIO involvement in the Mother’s Day Classic Walk 2019

The Mother’s Day Classic Walk is an annual Australia-wide event aimed at raising awareness of breast cancer. Following a successful introduction to the Walk last year, the SSIO again promoted this as a truly worthwhile community activity for members of its Ladies Program. This year a team of 250 including children, youth and men around Australia and joined the various local Mother’s Day Classic Walks on Sunday, 12 May.

Sai Medical Unit Assists ACT Nursing Home with Workshop for Staff

The Sai Medical Unit has recently conducted voluntary workshops on Self-Care for staff at IRT Kangara Waters in the ACT. The workshop addressed a need for staff in handling difficult situations that may arise between staff and residents, equipping staff with strategies to avoid or defuse situations before they develop or escalate.

ACT – Birthing Kit Assembly Day

The ACT Region of the SSIO is continuing its support of the valuable work undertaken by the Birthing Kit Foundation with another day in June set aside to assemble Birthing Kits for distribution to expectant mothers in developing countries. The kits are potentially life-saving items for mothers in areas of minimal or non-existent support for child birth, areas of high infant and birthing mother mortality rates.

Buddha Poornima – 2019

The Sathya Sai International Organisation is a multi-faith spiritual organisation that has participants for many different faiths. It promotes harmony, understanding and tolerance through Unity of Faiths looking for commonality between the faiths, rather than differences. It honours the different religions as different paths leading to the same goal and celebrates some of their holy days. Buddha Poornima is one such celebration which is observed by the Buddhist community. The date of the celebration is different for different regions. We are using the date observed in India, the land of Buddha’s birth; Saturday, 18 May.
