Sathya Sai Education in Human Values (SSEHV) – Zone 3 Newsletter

The emphasis on character building as an important and essential aspect of education has been a corner stone of the education system that Sathya Sai Baba developed. It focuses on the importance of human values as a latent and an integral part of our human nature and the need to foster these to bring out our true humanness. Sathya Sai Centre of Hurstville invites all interested in participating in a program that explores the spiritual value and application of the key values that are enshrined in all the faiths; Love, Peace, Truth, Righteousness and Non-violence.

They meet every 1st Thursday of the month at Hurstville South Public School Hall, Cnr King Georges Rd., & Maher St., Hurstville. NSW. The next meeting takes place from 7.45 pm until 9.10 pm, Thursday, 2 May 2019.

Multi-Faith Rain Prayer – Victoria Region

In hope of alleviating the current drought, the Victoria East Region of the SSIO is organising an extended multi-faith prayer session for rain. They are inviting representatives from different faiths to lead the prayers and encourage people from all faiths to join them in this heartfelt occasion.

Earth Hour 2019

The Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG’s is encouraging support for Earth Hour. An annual event originated in Australia in 2007 in which people, communities and businesses are encouraged to switch off their lights for an hour as a focus on environmental awareness issues.

‘Healthy Ageing’ Forums, Bundaberg Qld and Roberston NSW

Two forums have recently been delivered to local communities on Healthy Ageing with the assistance of the Sai Medical Unit. These seminars are along the lines of those established by the Unit for first forum conducted in ACT with another conducted in Sydney.

Healthy Ageing Workshop – Queensland

The Queensland Region of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG, with participating health professionals on 23 February 2019 are conducting a workshop focused on health changes as we age and resources available within the community. This is the 3rd such workshop conducted by the SSIO for the benefit of the local communities. The workshop is suitable for those over the age of 60 and carers of such people. All are welcome to attend.

Maha Shivarathri – 2019

The different religions of the world are paths to achievement of union of the individual with the Divine in whatever name that is used to define that concept. The SSIO, a multi-faith spiritual organisation, honours the different religions and celebrates some of their significant holy days as method of fostering tolerance, understanding and inclusion. One such significant event is the Hindu religion’s Maha Shivarathi, a night dedicated to God know as Shiva. The night is traditionally observed as one in which concentration on God in different ways is observed from sunset to sunrise the next day. This year, Maha Shivarathri falls on the night of Monday, 4 March. This event will be observed by a number of regions and individual groups and all are welcome to attend any of the celebrations

Clean Up Australia – Community Action Day, 2019

The Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG is a regular contributor to the Clean Up Australia Campaign. The objectives of the campaign sit well with the philosophies of the organisation of community selfless service and a responsibility for our environment based on gratitude for all the benefits nature and society bestows on us. This year the campaign falls on Sunday, 4 March 2019.
