In recognition of the role Seniors have in our community, Western Australia Region will hold a seniors morning tea at the Joan Watters Centre, Wembley, on Sunday 30 August at 10:00am
Research has shown that the ageing of the our population is increasing at a significantly faster rate than in the Australian population overall. In 1996, older persons comprised 18% of Australians aged 65 and over, this number is expected to rise to 23% in 2011 and 30% in 2021.
Respect for elders is the foundation of right conduct. Sathya Sai Baba tells, Whatever we hear from our elders, we should try to experience this in our heart. This gives a greater dimension to respectful language and behaviour; it is a guidance to learn and contemplate, a guidance to integration of the truths and wisdom elders have learned over a long life. Hence, Sathya Sai Organisation and Sai Young Adults seek to ensure elders are included in community celebrations with special events including and honouring elders.
The elders may exercise discretion and try to understand you in proper spirit, but children of your age cannot do so. Once misunderstanding sets in, you will miss the finer things in life and become disconsolate. Hence, I wish that you all be very careful in your contacts and relations with others. ~ Sathya Sai Baba, 9 October 2008
