sa-mahaThe Sai Devotees of Adelaide, South Australia, will hold a celebration to mark the 5th anniversary of the passing of Sathya Sai Baba at Unley Community Centre, on Sunday, 24 April.

Sathya Sai Baba – whom his devotees experienced as an incarnation of the Divine, walked on Earth, blessed those who came to him and cared for all his devotees and well-wishers in his formless state, as the Divine is both with form and without form.

Sathya Sai Baba passed from his body on 24 April, 2011. Although he was a full incarnation of the Divine, he allowed his physical body to reach its limits without his own Divine intervention. The passing of a divine from the physical body is called Samadhi in Sanskrit language. As Sathya Sai Baba was regarded as a “great” soul – even though all souls were sparks and emanations of that soul He is-was-always, he is given the felicitation of “great”; this word is Maha in Sanskrit language and so the passing of Sathya Sai Baba is marked as the “Maha-Samadhi“.

Each year, the devotees and all who are part and parcel of the Sathya Sai International Organisation – all over the world – mark the passing of Sai Baba. This is done with devotional activities in India and worldwide, and is frequently observed with service activities such as feeding of the poor, clothing the poor and needy, blood donation, care for the earth, disaster response, and other activities like this.

“Fill your hearts with love and let love be the guiding principle in all your activities … When you have love in your heart, you do not need to worry about anything. God will always be with you, in you, around you and will look after you in all respects. … … When you enquire deeply, you will experience this truth. It is impossible to be away from Him. … … God is never separate from you. Pray to Him wholeheartedly with the conviction that He is always in you, with you, above you, below you and around you. When you offer such a prayer to God, He will certainly redeem your life.”
Divine Discourse, Sathya Sai Baba, April 13, 2005
