Liquid Love is an annual blood donation drive organised by the young adults of the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG (SSIO). The Liquid Love campaign aims to inspire people to express their inherent love for all by making blood, plasma and platelet donations a regular part of their everyday lives. 33% of Australians require a blood donation at some point in their life. However, only 3% of the population donate. One donation can save three lives and hence by ensuring that you make liquid love a regular habit in your life, you can save dozens of lives after just a few months of donating.
The donation drive began on 23 of November 2016, the 91st anniversary of the birth of Sathya Sai Baba and will formally conclude on 24 April 2017, Aradhana Mahotsuvam (Sathya Sai Baba’s leaving His physical form) and the SSIO’s World Human Values Day. To date, 142 donations have been tallied around Australia. The aim of the five month period is to inspire repeat donors to develop a regular habit and to recruit new donors to also become regular donors. There have been 17 first time donors so far who have now learned how simple, painless and worthwhile a service this is. Plasma donation is a major focus too, since each donation can result in 18 life saving treatments. Over 70% of all donations by the SSIO have been plasma donations.
If you are between the ages of 16 and 70, and above 50kg then you are the perfect person to join in this beautiful service activity. Please call 13 14 95 or visit donateblood for more information and to request an appointment.
