National Tree Day was started in 1996 and since then 23 million trees have been planted. Groups from the Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG have been active supporter of the activity for several years with members of the organisation joining the thousands of Australians contributing to this excellent environmental drive. This year, several regions of the SSIO are organising tree plantings within the parameters of the national event.

Event Details

This is a wonderful opportunity for people to connect with nature and put back something that helps our environment whilst enjoying the camaraderie of working with our fellows in the fresh air and outdoors. By contemplating on what Nature selflessly gives us, we can also learn lessons of life and express out gratitude by giving something back through service to her. This is also a wonderful opportunity to show our children the value of the natural world and the importance of valuing and protecting our environment

‘Do not try to avoid contact with others or with external Nature. Develop a wider, a universal, outlook. Look upon external Nature as the vestment of God; it is the expression of the will of God, it is the manifestation of His glory, His power, His might, His majesty. See these in every blade of grass, in every floral petal, every slice of fruit. Learn lessons from the river, the mountains, the star and the sky. – Sathya Sai Baba 11/5/71
