Ladies Day is a special annual celebration inaugurated by Sathya Sai Baba in 1995. The day is dedicated to women acknowledging with gratitude the qualities of self-sacrifice, compassion, patience, forbearance and selfless love they display in their families and their contributions to society, indeed the nation and the world.
Different regions of the SSIO in Australia are holding special events in honour of women and celebrating their virtues and positive influence on the development of our families and the nation. More information of individual events is available through the link below.
‘In this world all things are transient. Only righteousness and good name endure. How is one to acquire a good name? By revering the mother. Never go against the wishes of the mother. The son who causes pain to the mother can never be happy. Hence, earn the blessings of the mother. – Sathya Sai Baba. 19.11.1995.
‘As today is a sacred day dedicated to women, they should change themselves and help to change men and children. They should develop the qualities of sympathy, compassion; love and sacrifice. Study the lives of great women, who were models of patience, fortitude, compassion and sacrifice. …Take up the reins of leadership and bring peace and prosperity to the nation by leading ideal lives. – Sathya Sai Baba. 19.11.1995.
Sai Baba extolled women as the ones whose qualities have the capacity of changing the world through their influence and the nurturing of men and especially their children. He talks of being a woman as a preeminent position in creation and it being a privilege to be borne a woman. He also extolls men to recognise and value women appreciating their high status and to never make them weep and shed tears. He encourages women to recognise their abilities and to strive to bring them to bear to make this world a better place filled with love, harmony and righteousness.
‘Ladies Day’ was inaugurated to recognise and honour women’s role in creation, to encourage them to reach their full potential and to lead men into greater appreciation, respect and honouring of women.
Celebrations will be held throughout Australia by various units of the SSIO. Flyers for some celebrations are available for download below. If no flyer is available, please check with your local Sai Centre using the ‘Locations’ link.
