Western Australia Region of the SSIO Australia are participating in the annual tree-planting event organised by the Trillion Trees organisation on 13 July. All are welcome to join in this environmental service.

Environmental degradation, unsustainable resource use and care for Mother Earth are issues that the SSIO has been concerned about and pro-active in remedial action and encouraging greater awareness of for some years. This concern has led to the SSIO holding its first International Go Green Conference held in India in 2018. This followed some years of environmental initiatives already in place.

Western Australia Region of the SSIO Australia has volunteered annually since 2012, with the Trillion Trees organisation (formerly Men of the Trees) and South East Regional Centre for Urban Landcare (SERCUL), to plant saplings around the Canning River Regional park and wetlands. SERCUL brings together the community, business and government in improving the health of our waterways and ecosystems. It’s a great family event, where all ages come together to participate in this event. The children particularly enjoy seeing the growth of the trees that we have planted in previous years.

The aim this year is to plant 6000 saplings and trees. All are welcome to join us in this endeavour.
