One of the spiritual programs leading to the celebration of the anniversary of the birth of Sathya Sai Baba, is an annual event of 24 hours of continuous singing of devotional songs conducted worldwide by units of the SSIO. This year, due to COVID 19 concerns, the program will be conducted online via the internet. An international program has allocated time for Australia’s participation and a national program has also been planned.

“The spiritual vibrations produced by devotional songs (Bhajans) confer great joy both on those who sing them and on those who hear the songs. The songs remove all negative thoughts, soothe the nerves, purify the mind and fill the body and the heart with sweet love for the divine. As one sings … the mind is saturated with God Consciousness and a great ecstasy wells up from within. No mental or intellectual effort is called for, as there is no need to understand anything while uttering the holy names of God and singing His glory. The singing and the atmosphere created … takes one beyond the realms of the body, mind and intellect and helps to establish communion with the Higher Self (consciousness) within. Therefore, singing … becomes a beautiful and blissful experience.

The SSIO is a spiritual organisation drawing its members from many faiths. It honours all faiths and the names given to the One by them throughout the world. The devotional singing thus glorifies God by those various names. The singing is dedicated towards promoting, peace, harmony and bliss throughout the world and bringing the singers into closer communion with the Divine.

Because of the limitations created by the current health crisis, the national online program does not run for the full 24 hours, whilst the international program, although running for 24 hours, has segments of the period specially allocated to participating countries.

All are very welcome to participate in this energising and joyful experience by singing along with the online programs. Individuals are free to come and go as they wish during the international 24 hours although participation as much as possible for the time of the national event and the international time slot is encouraged.
