The SSSIO Victoria Region recently undertook a service project to support “Share the Dignity”. This organisation works to achieve menstrual equity and combat period poverty by distributing essential period and hygiene products to women, girls, and those who menstruate who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness, domestic violence, and or poverty. They aim to ensure that, people are not forced to choose between purchasing hygiene products and other necessities.
This project was conducted in celebration of Ladies Day and involved a dedicated packing session held during the VIC Regional retreat, Journey with Sai, commemorating Swami’s 100th birthday. Volunteers from all across the region came together to lovingly prepare 120 bags filled with necessities. These included Toothbrushes, Toothpaste, Soap, Shampoo, Conditioner, Deodorant, Sanitary Pads and Tampons.
The impact of this Seva was profound and immediately felt by the recipient organisation. A “Share the Dignity” representative was reportedly overwhelmed by the volume of donations, stating that they were accustomed to receiving only 1 to 3 bags at a time. SSSIO Victoria is grateful that we had the opportunity to participate in such a meaningful service activity.
