The registration fee for attendees who are 16 years and over is $90. There is no fee for children under 16 years. Any motel accommodation charges are not included in the registration fee. There is no cost for camping or staying in the dormitory accommodation at the college.

The organising committee prefers the registration fee be paid by credit card. However, a choice of a direct bank transfer is available if required.

Yes, the registration form will allow you to register up to six people.

In His Divine Discourse on Feb 16, 1988, our Beloved Swami said: “One should manifest the Divine consciousness inherent in oneself. One should submit oneself to that consciousness as a spiritual discipline.

The retreat program focuses on the theme Omnipresent Indwelling Sai, and will include:

  • Omkaar, Suprabhatam, Vedam chanting, Nagarsankeertan in the dawn and Bhajans.
  • Inspiring talks with questions and answer time and sharing of personal experiences with Swami.
  • Workshops and young adult sessions.
  • Parallel SSE program.
  • Outdoor refresh sessions such as Yoga and Meditation
  • Performances by young adults and SSE children
  • Outreach activity with Sathya Sai College community

There will be one workshop that all will be engaged in, ‘My Inner Sai’ in which we will be sharing experiences of connecting with the divinity in our inner life and our relationships with others.

There will also be small group workshops covering 10 different topics that will be available on Saturday and repeated on Sunday. We will be sending out a form later for participants to choose the topics they would like to attend. The list follows:

Sathya Sai College Secondary Campus is the main retreat venue. It is about 37 kilometres from the Gold Coast airport, a drive of 35 to 40 minutes. The campus is about 5 kilometres from the town centre, a drive of 7 to 10 minutes. The campus is in the vicinity of Mount Warning which is of cultural significance to the local Aboriginal people and is a popular landmark in northern New South Wales.

Commercial accommodation: Arrangements were made with the Murwillumbah Motor Inn to hold its 32 rooms as accommodation for attendees of the retreat. Those rooms are now fully booked.

Another suitable provider we have located is ISKCON, (Hare Krishna) at the Krishna Village, 525 Tyalgum Rd., Eungella, via Murwillumbah NSW, about 25 minutes’ drive from the retreat venue. They offer several accommodation options including cabins and private rooms of differing sleeping arrangements. Many of these facilities have shared bathrooms. They are aware of our enquiries but are unable to reserve their rooms for us. If you wish to use this facility, it is advisable you book without delay to avoid disappointment. Those who wish to use this accommodation will generally need to book directly with ISKCON via their online facility, mentioning in the Other Information space, ‘Sathya Sai Org-Retreat.’ As mentioned in the following information, some shared facilities or families with children require a phone call to arrange the booking.

At the Krishna Village a range of accommodation options are offered spread out over the property of ‘New Govardhana’, from creatively renovated container rooms in the village proper to private pine cabins set in the hills overlooking the valley. 

The village itself sits at the bottom of the farm alongside the Oxley River and comprises most of their accommodation options, including the Lotus Pod Apartments, the Village Containers, their large campground, and powered vehicle sites and the two dormitories. Most of the accommodation in the village is serviced by shared amenities, with communal bathrooms providing shower, toilet and laundry facilities. Up the hill, they also have cabins and additional guest house rooms. Most rooms have shared amenities, unless otherwise specified.

Common areas are accessible to all guests but are largely located in the heart of the village and include a large communal kitchen, dining & campfire area, a cosy study room with WIFI access and the newly renovated yoga hall facility.

In addition, all their accommodation is inclusive of 3 vegetarian meals each day.

Shared Rooms $90/night (2-share) (See note following this option)

Most of their dormitories are all set in former shipping containers that have been renovated and turned into simple but comfortable accommodation. In their 2-share dorm’s there is 1 bunk bed. They share a big veranda looking into the lush green of the rainforest, with multiple chairs and tables to sit, relax, chat and read. Bedding and towels are provided, but you need to bring your own toiletries.

Budget Rooms $100/night

The Krishna Village has rooms set in converted shipping containers that have been renovated and turned into simple, cosy accommodation. They share a big veranda looking into the lush green of the rainforest, with multiple chairs and tables to sit, relax, chat and read. Bedding and towels are provided, but you need to bring your own toiletries.

Lotus Pod Rooms $135/night (1 person) or $205/night (2 people)

Located in the newly renovated Lotus Pod in the heart of Krishna Village, these rooms are ideal if you’re looking for a bit more privacy. The cosy double rooms have one double bed and a lovely private patio for you to read, relax or enjoy the sounds of nature. Your room also includes a wardrobe and a fan for summer or heater for winter. Bedding and a towel are provided, but you need to bring your own toiletries. You have access to shared amenities with bathrooms and showers, available to Lotus Pod guests only.

Private Cabins $150/night (1person) or $225/night (2 people)

These private cabins are a 5-minute walk to the temple and have a beautiful view of the surroundings from your private veranda. The open plan design contains one double bed and features an ensuite bathroom and a kitchenette with a small fridge and kettle. You also have access to all the amenities in the village, including the communal kitchen, study room, and yoga hall. These cabins are recommended for 1-2 persons.

Family Cabin $300/night (3 people minimum), $375 (4 people or $450 (5 people max)

The family cabin is close to the temple and has a beautiful view of the lake and valley from your private veranda. It features a lounge and kitchenette with a kettle, toaster, microwave, and small fridge. Private bathroom and shower attached. Includes heater. You also have access to all shared amenities in Krishna Village (5-minute walk), including the communal kitchen, study room, and yoga hall. Recommended for 3-6 persons.

Additional bedding may be available for families in some facilities by provision of air mattresses. You would need to discuss this and what is provided in bedding with ISKCON.

We suggest people who wish to find other commercial accommodation in the area carefully research the facilities on offer to ensure they meet your requirements. We have exercised care in selecting those facilities we have included in our information.

Camping and dormitory accommodation at Sathya Sai College campuses:

There is limited free camping spots in the college grounds.

Segregated dormitory accommodation is available at the Secondary Campus for adults, although the accommodation is spartan and best suited to younger adults. Any overflow may be accommodated at the Primary Campus

Separately there will be supervised, segregated, dormitory accommodation available at the Secondary Campus for children. Supervision will be provided by SSE Teachers.

There is also limited availability for family accommodation with one family to a room. This will be allocated on a first come, first served basis and will be limited to families with children under 10 years.

All dormitory accommodation is free of charge.

Note – Attendees who prefer a camping option will need to bring all their own camping gear including tents and sleeping requirements.

Note – Attendees who prefer the dormitory options will need to bring their own cots or air mattresses, sleeping bags, linen, and pillows as no bedding is provided.

As there will be both indoor and outdoor activities planned, please ensure that your child is dressed comfortably and brings along some stationery (pencils, pens, colour pencils, texta etc), a small bottle of sunscreen, a water bottle with their name on it, a sun hat and protective clothing and footwear.

Further information will be provided for the attire/costume for the SSE offering.

There will be transport assistance available in relation to airport transfers and between the venue, the Murwillumbah Motor Inn, and Krishna Village. We encourage attendees who plan to arrive on Friday, 14 October to book their flights so that they arrive at Gold Coast airport between 2.00 pm and 10.00 pm. Attendees who intend arriving on Saturday, 15 October please book your flight to arrive at Gold Coast airport between 6.00 am and 9.00 am. Transfer to Gold Coast airport will be available to attendees on Sunday afternoon between 12.00 pm and 4.00 pm.   

The organising committee would appreciate attendees who intend driving to the retreat to volunteer to help with the transport duties. Further information regarding the detail of transport arrangements will be provided in due course. The committee will contact registered attendees who have requested transport assistance to obtain and confirm flight and accommodation arrangements.

The organising committee needs volunteers to help with several tasks. If you like to volunteer, please indicate your preference to volunteer for as many service areas as possible. This would enable the committee to allocate responsibilities up front on a needs-basis. Volunteers are needed for:

  • Set-up on Friday, 14 Oct 2022 from 3 PM-8 PM
  • De-rig on Sunday, 16 October 2022 from 12 Noon to 6 PM
  • Assisting with cooking and cleaning
  • Food service
  • Health and safety
  • Registration and information desk

  • If wishing to volunteer for SSE activities, you will need to have the required verified Working with Children registration already noted on your centre’s Membership Database.
  • If driving to the retreat, assisting the transfer of devotees from the Gold Coast Airport and/or between accommodation and the retreat venue.
  • There are opportunities for medical professionals (e.g., doctors, nurses etc.) to be a medical volunteer during the duration of retreat. If you are a medical professional, please indicate on the Registration Form if you would be happy to volunteer in a medical capacity (for basic consultation, screening and advice only)

SSSIO National Retreat 2022 Organising Committee will be videoing and taking photographs throughout the retreat. These images may be used for articles, reporting requirements of the SSSIO, social media and website posts and for promotion of future SSSIO events. In accordance with SSSIO policies, only nominated persons will be allowed to video and take photographs at the retreat. The nominated persons will be following SSSIO guidelines in videoing and photography. Attendees are not allowed to video or photograph throughout the retreat.

By registering for the retreat, you acknowledge and agree to the above.

Any surplus amount will be transferred to the Sathya Sai College in Murwillumbah.

All information collected will only be used for retreat purposes. No personal information will be held or used after the conclusion of the retreat.

Sadhana is the Sanskrit word for spiritual practice or spiritual discipline. Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba defined sadhana as “an activity undertaken for achieving one’s goal or purpose in life” (SSS 18.15), which He said, “is to realise the inherent divinity” (SSS 21.11)

The sadhana plan is open to all, watch this video for more details. To participate in the sadhana plan you need to register first by following the steps below:

Please guide your children on participating in the sadhana designed specifically for them. You can do a number of joint activities with your children, e.g., try a new recipe and offer it to Swami and enjoy. Take them for a walk or another joint exercise.
