Christmas can be a particularly difficult time for families struggling with cost-of-living pressures. To provide some help at this time, NSW Region of the Sri Sathya Sai International Organisation of Australia & PNG annually distributes Christmas Hampers to Tregear Public School and Plumpton House School for distribution to local families. The communities involved welcome the hampers as they provide not only much needed material assistance but also an emotional lift leading towards the festive time. Plumpton House School is a school for those with special needs. It caters to the individual requirements of students with a range of emotional and behaviour support needs. Tregear is in an area with many struggling families.
On 14 December, groups from the Region delivered 42 Christmas Hampers to Plumpton House School and 30 Christmas Hampers to Tregear Public School. The following day 40 Christmas Hampers were delivered to the Tamil Refugee Care Program which caters for the needs of Tamil refugees in Australia; another cause close to the hearts of members of the groups.
