Sai Threads of Love – A Community Service Initiative

Members of the Sri Sathya Sai Centre of Carlingford NSW came together, united by the threads of Sai love to knit squares and create blankets for donation to the Harman Foundation as part of a community service initiative.

Many participants were completely new to knitting, but with enthusiasm, patience, and a willingness to learn, they embraced the challenge. Starting in May 2026, week by week, about 20 devotees dedicated their time and effort to knitting beautiful, colourful squares, each one lovingly crafted and filled with care. These squares were then joined together to create warm blankets woven with love, compassion, and hope.

By July, through dedication, teamwork, collaboration with some of the sisters from Normanhurst Centre and many hours of loving effort, they were delighted to complete an initial donation of three beautiful handmade blankets.

These blankets were gifted to the Harman Foundation, an organisation that provides support, refuge, and essential services to women and children affected by domestic and family violence. It is the sisters’ heartfelt hope that these blankets offer not only warmth and comfort, but also a gentle reminder to the recipient that they are cared for, valued, and supported by the wider community.

This initiative beautifully demonstrated that when people come together in a spirit of love and selfless service, even beginners can make a meaningful contribution. Every stitch represented an act of kindness, compassion, and hope, transforming simple strands of yarn into tangible expressions of care and support and Sai love.

The service is a reminder that true devotion is expressed through loving service. When we offer our time, talents, and efforts with a selfless heart, every act, no matter how small, becomes an offering of love. May we continue to serve with compassion, seeing the Divine in all and sharing His love through our actions.

This is an on-going service project. Anyone interested in participating, please contact the centre president.
