The Sri Sathya Sai Centre of Melbourne, in conjunction with the Sri Sathya Sai Devotional Group of Southeast Melbourne joyously celebrated Guru Poornima on 2nd August 2026 from 4:00 pm to 6:30 pm. The evening brought together devotees in a spirit of gratitude, reflection and devotion to our beloved Bhagawan.

The program commenced with Vedam chanting, setting a serene and uplifting atmosphere. This was followed by a unique and engaging quiz using the Kahoot platform and focused on instrumental bhajans. Members thoroughly enjoyed identifying familiar bhajans played in instrumental form, appreciating how differently they can sound without vocals. The activity also helped sharpen listening skills, encouraging participants to recognise bhajan notes and patterns more mindfully.

A gratitude game then invited everyone to pause and reflect on the blessings in their lives—those often cherished yet sometimes taken for granted. The room was filled with heartfelt sharing, as devotees expressed gratitude for Swami’s constant guidance and protection. A common theme that emerged was deep appreciation for the Sai Organisation and the Melbourne Centre, which many described as a strong support system and a spiritual family that Swami has lovingly connected them to.

A special highlight of the evening was a sharing by Sister Margaret, one of the founding members of the Melbourne Centre. She recounted her experiences, along with those of Sister Mary, to whom Swami had gifted His robe for the Centre. This moment allowed everyone to reflect on Swami’s boundless love for Melbourne and to offer gratitude for the blessing of being able to take darshan of this sacred robe—an enduring reminder of His physical presence and compassion.

The celebrations then transitioned into a musical offering, beginning with a performance by the Young Adults, followed by uplifting bhajans.

Overall, this year’s Guru Poornima celebrations were filled with joy, unity, and deep gratitude towards Swami and His creation. The evening concluded with a bring-and-share dinner, beautifully reflecting the diversity and harmony within the Melbourne Sai Centre community.
